Which one is better off road, WJ or WK
Im Thinking about getting another one for myself. Currently have 2002 WJ V8 Select-trac, very happy with it. I just want to know which one would be better to get, especially for off road. I want V8, 4.7 engine. NO HEMI, NO 6 cylinder.

Most wheelers would prefer the WJ for its straight front axle.

Well if you get the QDII in the WK, then the WK is better hands down over a QD WJ IMHO. I have seen the QDII go up some pretty crazy stuff
Otherwise the WJ is better.

WJ will generally be chosen, especially if you consider the price you can pay for another one, because you could get a nice 04 and have solid axles and a decent amount of aftermarket parts. Just makes more sense than wheeling a very new vehicles IMO.

Also the transfer case shifting in the WK is all electronic.
You have to hold up a lever and wait for the electronics to do its' thang. The driver has no real manual control over the t-case. |

WJ hands down solid front, smaller, lighter, and you're an idiot if you take a brand new car and beat it up off road. And parts are WAY easier to find for the WJ. Why don't you want the HEMI?

I can certainly understand not wanting that silly little V6 they put in the WK, but there's nothing wrong with the I6 in the WJ.
Unless you lust to burn the most fuel possible. Then the Hemi's your engine. |
