Doing some research, I was curious as to why I couldn't find the tires I currently have anywhere online. Definity Dakota A/T's 31x10.5R15LT. Previous owner had them on with low tread so I knew the zj needed tires soon. However as I was researching I came to find out, each site says these tires do not fit the jeep. What's up with that?
31" tires are bigger than stock, I'm pretty sure those sizing guides just tell you if the size you're looking at is a stock size. So since they're bigger than what came on a stock ZJ, they "don't fit".
Those are proprietary tires for Pep Boys. So you're not going to find it at most tire stores. If I remember correctly, I believe Cooper Tires manufactures these for them. This was several years ago, so I don't know if they still do.
Lift size doesn't map directly to max tire size. My 33's don't rub on my 2.5" lift but I can guarantee they would on yours.
None of the tire shops are interested in playing the liability game when it comes to lifted vehicles, there's way too much to factor in. I get the same speech every time I get tires, and I answer that I understand my tires are oversized and have modified the vehicle to support them and then it's business as usual.
Haha, no one says that stuff here in cow fart gun county!
