I have a 2000 WJ and I was wondering what the OBD2 controls. Does it control the motor, tranny, or anything else?

Every system that has part in your going down the road - all drivetrain sensors and moving parts from fuel to spark to radiator fan to tranny shift to speedometer.
Exhaust sensors, everything.

Phil,

Thanks for the fast reply, i was thinking about doing a ford 302 or 351 EFI swap. But with the info you just said that is out for my WJ. Well I guess I will stroke it out to a 4.6 instead. Now I need to find someone who makes a 4x4 cam for the 4.0L. I called Comp Cams and they dont make it.

I don't know how much reading you've done but you can start here on stroking a 4.0L. Some of the manufacturers are no longer in biz but a great read.

My daughter has a 1999 WJ with the V8 4.6. It's a sweet motor and might (I haven't done the research) be a reasonable swap since it was factory available. This engine is better, faster, more efficient, more powerful etc than the 5.2 ever thought about....
Go by a used car lot and drive one, I think you'll be impressed.
