NV247 to NP231 Swap

So I plan to yank the NP231 out of my 1992 YJ 4.0 and was toying with the idea of throwing it in the Grand...

I have read a few threads about it I know it involves swapping the input shafts and the linkage would need some tweeking. I still have not been able to find a real write up or anything. I also read that it might not work with earlier model NP231.

I was wondering if anybody could steer me in the right direction to read up more on what this would require thanks guys

Here's the closest thing I ever found to a full write-up
http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums...d.php?t=226830

I did the swap a little less then a year ago and I'm very happy with it. If you've got any questions I'll do my best to answer them.

Damn my T-case is out of a 1992. What is different from 1992 to 1995+ that makes one work and the other one not?

I honestly couldn't tell you. One of the guys at my local 4x4 shop explained it to me when he was helping me set up the linkage but that was over a year ago and my memory really isn't that great. I bet someone in the wrangler tech forum could shed some light on what the differences are.

It's the gear cut. You need tthe 95+ case to be able to swap in a NV247 input.

Want to swap an NP242 or NP231 into your ZJ? Here's how:
