NV242j TC cost?

Ive got the death-clunk of a lose chain in my 00 4.7 GC TC, and im lookin at the 242j upgrade from an 03+ 4.7.

What should I expect to pay for a TC, new or used?

BTW..heres a few thread closers for the search engines..

Brakes: Porterfield rotors and R4-S pads..a dream come true. How good? I can do a 2:38 around Sears Point consistently in my 00..on 31" tires, and NEVER piss off the brakes too much. Dont spend money on names, spend it on what -works-

Towing: The BIG trailer with BIG car, tools, tires, and 40g of fuel under the trailer, back and forth to Toronto from San Francisco..about 9,000lbs. No probs. On the BIG tires I have 128,000 miles (add 10%ish for real miles) on OEM auto tranny, and one mother huge cooler. Hint..get a COOLER.

Overheating. Only when really yanking hard up towards reno, or out of salt lake city on 80 goind east. But so what. Fan clutch kicks in..I go slower, but temps come down. If the fan clutch aint engaged, it aint too hot...IMHO.

Drivers seat..sucks. Mine is busted, again. Not sure what to do.

Here you go buddy... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7978430667&catego ry=33731&sspagename=WDVW That's a sweet TC, and off a 02. My guess, you should be able to get one for under 450 for a 03 TC . Good luck!

Thanks..ive been searchin Ebay, but aways with the NV prefix, never did a 242 search by itself.

If I recall, I think the heavy duty(er) one is from an 03, unless someone corrects me and this 02 is the upgrade from my 00 TC.

Cheers!

Now im even more curious..

I have an NV247, and it might just be a slipping chain.

Should I replace the chain, or..is the 242j still an upgrade path?

Well your 247 is Quadra-Trac, the 242 is Select-Trac. If you decied to replace it, it has to come out anyway, so it wouldn't hurt to just take it out and check it over inside. I'm not sure about the different years being better, but I'm sure someone else here will help.

Bump for more input on:

1) Can I replace my own chain in this unit?
2) Are the later year TCs better/interchangable?
