Nv242 to 249

I searched and i know there is a lot of help on the 249 to 242 but how about the 242 to 249. Can it be done? Whats all involved. There is a wj limited i6 at the junkyard i go to and i was wondering if i could get the all wheel drive out of it. I want to put in rear dana 44 from v8 and the varilock axles but would like to have the t case to make them work. If anyone could give me some pointers or point me in the right direction Id appreciate it. Thanks

A 242 T-case will work fine with the axle you specified, there is no reason to "downgrade" to a 249.

I agree with that. Why go to a 249 when you already have the same function with the 242 ?
