NP249 Seal kit

I have a worn out VC and leaking transfer case, so digging in to fix it all!

I ordered the viscous coupler and seal kit for my NP 249 from crown automotive and was ready to start work this morning. I found the detailed description on this site for changing out the coupler - but what are the rest of the seals in this kit? Is there a write up about changing all of these out? Been surfing this site and all of the parts dealers looking for a part description of these kits all morning!

The kit had 6 different press in type seals, one gear tooth looking seal, and three small o-rings.

Thanks!

There is a write on the np242 in the faq section but an other website has a pdf section (for educational purposes only) that has a partial FSM that will cover the disassemble and assembly of the 249......

Great site! Didn't know that existed!!

So think I've got most of the seals figured out:
- 2 orings for the speedometer sensor and adapter
- 1 oring for the oil pump pickup
- the gear shaped washer is for the yoke seal

The seals that I can identify are:
- output shaft front seal
- front bearing retainer seal
- extension housing seal
- rear retainer seal

So this leaves two more seals. Any ideas? Could one of these possibly be for the output seal from the transmission?

You should fill in your Jeep's profile. 93-98 ZJ describes the particular model run, but many parts will differ from year to year. Get the TC id #'s off the back of TC so when ordering parts you'll get the right parts and everyone that wants to help has all your info.

Done! Basically the 96 stock Grand Cherokee Limited with the V8 and all wheel drive. Got this cheap as a second vehicle - but definitely needed a little TLC. Already fixed the AC (new compressor) (top priority in South GA), trying to troubleshoot a battery drain, need to fix this TC (NP249), put on a 2" BB, new tires, and do something with the head liner that is sagging all over the place. This ol girl hit 200k miles when I was test driving her, but still strong.
