I honestly don't remember the torque. As tight as you can get it with a wrench, then a bit tighter.

That sounds about right. I usually don't torque them, I'll just put two wrenches together (to give me more leverage) and tighten them as tight as I can go. On some cars, there's just not enough room to get the torque wrench in there.

Got thinking, it wouldnt be the tourque converter if it stops when the engine warms up would it? say once i get up around 100 degrees it stops altogether. wether i am driving or idle. only happens to a cold engine

so update, finaly got a buddy to help me isolate the noise. We shifted into reverse then back into park and the other person was down under listening. we isolated the noise to the starter. putting our hands on and around that rea, the vibrations and noises were soley coming from the starter. so all we could come up with is that maybe the starter is staying out and engaging the fly wheel, but i changed the starter out to no avail. and doesnt explain why it slows down, then eventually stops, as the vehicle warms up. any ideas? i am still looking for the cover to be able to look in at the torque converter, havent found it yet.

Mack , that sounds an awful lot like the cooling fan hitting the shroud . Had this happen once when I had a bad motor mount . Check out the edges or even the clearances not running .

But sounds arent coming from the front. It comes from down under the engine. So when I crawl under while buddy puts it in gear then back into park it starts to rattle and it is definitely coming from the starter. And once the engine is warm the rattle stops. When engine is cold it rattles when taken out of gear, and when it is given gas, idle or moving... so confused. I will double check fan and shroud tomorrow just incase for sure

Still unsure of the issue. Below -15 and you turn the key nothing at all happens, and I have to start it with screwdriver by touching both terminals together in the starter. Any warmer then that it will either start up fine or fight a bit. Going to install new starter solenoid and see of that for some reason helps.
