Noise coming from rear wheels

I have a noise that sounds like "wah wah wah" coming from the rear wheels at speeds above 25 mph. The speed of the "wah wah's) coincides with the speed of the tires, regardless of which gear I'm in. The noise is more pronounced when I have my foot on the gas. This noise is very annoying so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does it sound like metal or just road noise? We have a '96 that has a metal noise more noticable under acceleration and braking. I jacked the car up and turned the wheels and could not find anything out of the ordinary. Fluid in the rear differential looked fine. Tires were wearing fine. I'm hoping it's just brake hardware.

get the wheel bearings checked out my friends avenger had the same thing and that was the culprit

i had the same problem sounded like a rollercoaster int he back of my truck above 30mph. it was the rear differential bearing and it was not an easy job!! well its all fixed now and no more noise.
