No spark and no fuel

my zj died on my way home the other night without any warning. It will crank but it will not turn over. I immediately assumed it was the fuel pump because it was not priming when i turned the key. I replace the fuel pump and it is still not starting i checked to see if i was getting a spark and there is also no spark. I tested both the new and old fuel pumps by using a jumper cable from the battery to the connections and the fuel pump primes. I have no idea what it could be...

Doesnt the alarm system disable all that? Just a thought... An issue with that would be my guess if you dont have any codes...

ECU relay?

Check any of the relays under the hood, try some musical chairs, put an ABS relay in the fuel pump relay spot and try that.

Right idea, wrong year model. Musical relays is good troubleshooting but you'll be looking for the ABS relay for a long time on a 97. My first guess would be ASD relays. If no joy there try a CPS.
