Newbie Exhaust Question

I just bought a '96 ZJ with a 5.2L V8 (I previously owned an Isuzu Hombre w/ a 2.0l 4 cyl. and no AC, so you can imagine how excited i am to have this), and am beginning to mod it up with every paycheck. I am looking at exhaust systems and have two in mind. Right now im looking at either the Gibson singleside exit aluminized exhaust from performancecombos.com for $250 or an exhaust system from rustysoffroad.com with a 2.5" tailpipe and flowmaster Delta Flow 50 for $169. Which would be a better choice, when considering price, sound, and performance? I was also thinking maybe a Delta Flow 40, because im 18 and sound means alot to me and my fellow teenagers. I will eventually add a K&N FIPK, but thats later.

I also have one more question. Im sorry if this has already been discussed, but does anyone know if 31x10.50 BF Goodrich A/T or M/T's will fit on with just a Budget Boost, if i dont have any heavy offroading in mind for a while (wont be able to afford rest of the lift till next summer)

I will appreciate any info you can provide.

OK, first of all what kind of world do we live in where 18 year olds get to own Grand Cherokees?

As for your exhaust, you are not going to go wrong with either setup listed. Just keep in mind sound, quality, and performance. You may want to see what kind of warranty each has. Never forget, you get what you pay for!

If you go with a budget boost, you may be able to get 31's on. I wouldn't recommend going any bigger than 30's. You never know when you are going to give into peer pressure and offroad your Grand. When you do, you don't want costly damage from your tires. If you really like the look of the bigger tires on the Grand, you will never be happy until you lift it the right way. My suggestion is to be patient, save your money, and buy a nice suspension lift.

My 2 cents.

First I too wish could have had a GC at 18.

That said...I've always been partial to flow master, but both systems are good.

I've seen a 98 GC with 31/10.50's BFG M/T's and it looked really good. I do know that the tires rubbed at full turn...the shiny silver spots on the sway bar told me that.

Good luck,
Charlie

Thanks for the advice, i think ill go with the flowmaster.

I realize im lucky to have a GC at 18, and the only reason i have one is because i used my college savings to buy it after i signed my soul to the Air Force (ROTC) to pay for my college.
