Hi there, I have just lifted my Jeep and am putting on new Mickey Thompson 32" Tyres tomorrow - I have been told that if I damage one and put a smaller sprae tyre on I will blow a diff...can anyone confirm that this is the case??

first of all there Tires ( silly aussies )

and second.. we need to know more information about your Jeep to determine if you will need to replace all 4 tires in the event of a blowout

do you have all time four wheel drive? or do you have an option for 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive?

basically.. which transfer case do you have?

if it is always in 4 wheel drive then yes.. you need matching tires all the way around... if you get a flat and need to put a spare on.. there is a certain amount of tread difference that is acceptable... too much will cause problems

Transfer case is what decides how much power will go to each wheel. If one wheel is smaller and is spinning faster, it will confuse and burn up the fluid and internals of the transfer case.

Here is a diagram from wjjeeps.com with the location of the transfercase- just for your reference.

which lift did you go with?

i too have a 32in M/T spare and obviously it doesn't fit in the spare tire well. what i did was just stand it up to one side and hold it in place via a rachet type strap.
