New to this section. What to look for?

Spent years in the TJ forum but now in the process of selling my wrangler and looking to buy a 2001-2003 Grand Cherokee. What are some areas of concern, or questions I should ask when checking out some of these vehicles(other than the obvious type stuff)? Looks like there's been a handful of recalls on these during those years.

thanks

I own a 98 CG Limited 5.9 because I wanted a V8 & I do not like the 4.7 V8 one bit. I owned on in an 02 Dakota 4x4 & it was NO power except the flats. NO gas Mileage 14-16 once I got the wonderful mileage of 16.7 mpg downhill. Our 5.9 gets better overall gas mileage & will run circles around the 4.7. So look for a 4.0 I-6.

x2. 4.7 is fast. 4.0 is not bad, has some speed and can get good mileage too if driven properly.

You want the setup in my sig. If you can find it in a newer year, great.
- No blend doors
- Leather
- No heated seats
- Selec-Trac
- Laredo side cladding

The versions after 2000 (maybe 2001?) had a different water pump configuration that sometimes results in a power steering hose leak but otherwise, it's a great choice. 4.7 is a super engine when maintained correctly.

Be sure the fixes I've done were addressed (you'll run into them eventually otherwise) and seriously consider my minor upgrades depending on what you will use it for.
