New S-Belt Squealing

My serpantine belt broke this morning (luckily I was able to pull it off the road). The autoparts store was nearby so I just purchased a cheap belt.

As soon as i installed the belt, and started up, I heard a slight squeal, which progressed with acceleration.

I am assuming this squeal is due to me purchasing a cheap belt, since there were no squeals before.

Since this is a 5.2, it has the auto-tension, but is there anything else I need to look at? I think after work, I'm just going to purchase a better belt, and keep this one for emergencies.

Thanks,
Ron

i would assume its the cheap belt too, i bought just the normal "parallel lines" belt and it squealed allot, so i went back and got the gator back from goodyear, it fix the squeal, but the gator back seemed a little shorter, the normal one i could put on by my self, but i needed a friend to get the gator back on because the tensioner was allot harder to turn the last little bit.

cheap belts will squeal. Change it out for a goodyear gatorback and be done with it.

what caused the old belt to break? it might be a seized pulley or something worse.

I have had bad luck with those Dayco poly mix belts. I replaced the tensioner pulley with a plastic pulley and that combo is freaking insanely chirpy.
