New Overland

Hi there,

Just took delivery of a new GC overland with all the toys on. Graphite Grey.

I live in Dubai so I'll have plenty of chances to take her out in the sandy/rocky wilderness and see how she copes. Maybe give her a lift but see how she get's on stock first.

First impressions (after 50Kms)...

Very comfy and posh.

Awesome soundsystem as standard.

Even with taking it easy on the gas before it's broken in, you still know there is one hell of a lump under the bonnet - sorry, hood!

Cruises at 80mph with just over 2,000rpm showing. Very relaxed.

Road & wind noise is louder than I'm used to but was expected especially as I specified the AT tyres instead of the road biased ones.

Lovely car.

Came with some trendy sunglasses that I chose from a large range and an off-road driving course thanks to the Jeep Academy.

3 years everything including roadside assist so, in theory, it's only the gas & insurance bills to be added.

Fantastic!

Had more time with her last night (hope the wife doesn't get jealous!).

Very smooth - great engine. Even with reasonably fast normal driving I only once went over 3,000rpm. I'm treading on the fast pedal softly until the first service at 1,000Kms than we'll see what she can do.

One thing I can already tell is that the A/C is much better than my previous car. It's been around the 50C mark here for the past few weeks and it's very important, believe me! Also the Slate Grey interior does'nt hold the heat like my old black leather car did.

This is the first car that I've where I've had to turn the Bass down! Did I mention a great stereo!

I just bought the same car as you and I love it. I had a 97 ZJ w/ the 5.2 and I think the 4.7 H.O. is a huge improvement. It's a lot smoother and it has noticably more power. The suspension has also been dramatically improved. I definitely can't say that I would change anything about the car...

I agree - it's a very nice car. Had it sort of off road in the desert at the weekend and it was lovely knowing that we now have the ability to explore of the beaten track. There's plenty of that to do here.
