New to forum. Couple of questions about aftermarket parts

Hi,
we have 1995 V8 GC in family and are planning to buy 2002 GC in 2 weeks.
1.Replaced all 4 brake rotors, calipers and pads last spring with autozone parts, but in new one i'm planning to replace at least front rotors+pads in first day. Any suggestions about what make rotors+pads should i get?
2. Is K&N cold air intake (or any other) worth its price? Will i sense the increase of performance with my butt too or is it only nicelooking piece of hardware under the hood? What about K&N ordinary air filter?
3.It's time to replace sparkplugs and wires on 1995 GC 5.2. One of my friends has 98 Camaro Z28 and told me some engines doesn't like some sparkplugs, he had problems with idle etc. Any good experiences to share? Can suggest wires?
4.When using 99% of time only low-beam headlights, will any of those hyped ultrawhite-highdischarge-xenonlike-mega-bulbs be impovement over stock bulbs?

Ok, seems these are all my questions for now.
Thanks,
Erik

i will try to answer some of your questions....

1. whichever you get, just do not go and get the cheap-o ones. you always get what you pay for...

2. the fipk2 will be a great addition to both of your GC's. as far as the flat panel filters, you will only really notice a difference if you open up your air box some, ie cutting holes into the box. not as expensive as the fipk2, but you anso will not notice as large of a performance gain.

3. MSD Super 8.5 wires with NGK v-power plugs. stay as far away from the platinum plugs as you can. go with the copper core ones. the wire set will be about 65-80 bucks and the plugs should be less than 1.50 per plug at autozone.

4. not really. the only noticable difference that i saw when i put them in mine was that everything looked just as bright, only a little blue. although the sylvanya silverstar's are supposed to be really nice. if you want to improve your lights, go out and get a set of off-road lights and mount them iether to your roof rack bar, or on your front bumper. you will have to do a little cutting for the latter option.

i hope this helps you out.

Here's my addition:
1. I have a '99 Limited 4.7 4x4 with 72,000 miles. Last year, I had pads on all four wheels replaced and rotors turned. Autozone had better pads for front but cheap pads for rear. What a mistake with the rear pads. Just last weekend (not more than 10,000 miles on them) I had all four rotors and pads replaced because I couldn't take the noise anymore. And when checked, the rear pads were 70% gone. Spend a little more, get the better pads and rotors. I purchased Brembo rotors and ceramic pads from tirerack.com. Works GOOD.

2. Big debate on the K&N. I have the "ordinary" K&N filter. Can't notice a thing but like the fact that I can just clean and reuse without having to buy new filter every tuneup. I have a friend that works at K&N in Riverside, CA and he swears by the cone filter. Who knows? But sure looks cool under the hood.

3. I'm have to agree with the platinum plugs. After replacing the plugs for the first time, the 8th plug went bad. I mean it bent so that there was no gap and I guess no spark. Got check engine light and running harsh. Problem went a way after changing.

4. I too would like to try the xeon type light but have not for two reasons. PIAA does not make one (but I hear one can fit them with little modification) and I can't get the dam headlight assembly off my Jeep without breaking something. I mean it's f***en stuck tight on there. Oh well. Maybe when the bulb goes bad I try harder. Hey, my wife drives Mercedes ML with the projection lights. Not xeon but that darn thing is bright! And got that purple color thing going. Honestly, I'm not sure if xeon type bulb will do very much, other than trying make your Jeep look like something it's not. I like the more lights option.

Addition: Have you tried considering an exhaust? Maybe better gain for the buck than air intake.
