Hard starting

I have a 95 jeep grand cherokee laredo it has a 4.0l and auto and the transfer case went out on it so i disconnected the from shaft. it has 147K miles. The engine seems to start hard by slow cranking. i replaced the battery and plugs and wires about a year to year and half ago and didnt help. i have cycled the key two or three times before starting to see if that would help and it doesnt seem too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

the 'hard start' info in the stickied FAQ may help you.
