Need help will a 98 jeep spot transmission fit 97 grand cherokee?

Hi can any one help me I have a 97 auto jeep grand cherokee and the transmission has died I can get hold of a transmission out of a 98 cherokee sport but does any one know if there is a difference between the two and if so can I convert it to make it work ?? Please help

97 Grand Cherokee (assume 4.0l) = 42RE
98 Cherokee = AW4 trans

Sorry , these are different . They will bolt up but the electronics are different . Won't work .

Do u know if there is any way to convert them I can't find any transmissions the same as mine

Check out car-part.com

Shows all parts from many, many junkyards/scrapyards/salvage yards across the nation. Just look up what you need, and it'll give you a list of everyone within however many miles you choose, that has one.

Thanks anyway there not to big on the jeeps here so it is impossible to find parts when u need them that's why I was hoping there was some way of doing a transmission conversion
