Need Help? Popping/Binding front end

Hey guys,

Can't figure this one out?

I have a V8 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee that is popping/binding when in 4lo when and gas is applied.

The popping is coming from the drivers front.

In 2 wheel drive (I have a 242HD swap) not a sound. If you put it in 4lo and just let it roll, no sound.

When you put it in 4 lo or any 4 wheel drive position and give it gas POP,POP, POP!

I pulled the front differential cover an not metal, no missing teeth, functioning perfect....

Only thing I can figure is that it is the front drivers side cv axle shaft??

Oh, the front drive shaft is a tom woods and it is TIGHT to the differential... No play in out or up and down..

What do ya'll think?

This is a loud POP,POP,POP sound, no whine...?

Strange Update

Just refilled the diff. with Mobil 1 75-140 synthetic with some LS additive and WALLA!

Took it to the closest gravel parking lot and cut donuts wide open in 4lo first gear..

NO POP or Binding!!!!?

Now to put Mobil 1 in the rear!!

DANG!
