I'll take it in a 2WD rear end over an open-diffed 4x4 anyday.

Sir,

you need to spend some more time learning how to wheel. I take open diffed 4x4s to Moab where a locked 2wd cannot go.

Hunter.... I didn't mean to hit a nerve, but I did leave a disclaimer on my statement...

"you'll be surprised at what your vehicle is capable of vs. open diffed 4x4s (provided that the driver you compete with is not too advanced of course.)"

As for learning to wheel, I've got a long way to go to be proficienct at using an open-diffed 4WD to get to the places I go with the locker - which is a night and day difference in traction on muddy and slippery slopes as well as rocky terrain. I'm in Austin so not too much rock around here - except over by marble falls and you are correct, an open-diffed 4WD with a "knowledge" driver will go farther than a 2WD with a locker using the same driver IMHO.

Let me give the kid props though as he'll eventually go too far and need someone to pull him out - that's the fun of wheeling in my opinion. One can never go too far as long as no one is in danger or gets hurt in the process.

No nerves damaged. Lots of WJs and ZJs drive all over the place without lockers. Lockers make driving in the snow on the street a little dicey. No snow in Austin? You do get the occaisional icy bridge.

just the other day had to get some work done on my jeep, water pump broke again , so that was replaced along with some hoses, belts, and another part right by there, don't know what he called it.... also, got my rear brakes done as they were done, done, done - think that was it, oh wait, there was another thing the mechanic did, but i don't remember what it was - all in all, happy with the work he did and ride is nice and smooth now

also, few weeks back, got some new tires... will try to snap some pictures soon and post up...

water pump/coolant/belt/rear brakes/thermostat/hose (all done last week)

now:
belt might need to be replaced, noise coming from car on start up and goes away after a bit/and after give some gas... he says might be faulty belt but said to wait a little and see if it keeps going on or goes away

rear main seal needs work - leak

oil filter housing needs work - leak

a/c compresor (wheel acting up) needs to be replaced

for all these, all at once - mechanic said i can wait a little but should get them done soon, oh well, sometimes got to get stuff fixed and pay for it

~ replaced air filter
~ replaced air with nitrogen in tires
~ added fuel cleaner
~ added a little brake fluid

...and cleaned inspected under the hood... decided to start doing more of my own work on the Jeep, of course within reason and my mechanical limitations
