Hey guys just thought id share what I've been working on the past week.
I have rebuilt my no weld roof rack and today just added a small 5x5 foot awning to it. I didn't want anything too big to handle with just something to cover the two doors. Next to come are some jerry can locking mounts and a shovel mount.
My whole roof rack itself is 3/4 inch conduit which I mitered and bolted together. Then my awning is hd gate hinges and 1/2' conduit with a water proofed canvas drop cloth and there are no legs it is all self contained . The awning is not completely finished I am making a waterproof cover for it and adding more flag eyelets to the canvas so I can bungee it to the frame.
Any input or other ideas for the rack would be appreciated
And yes I know welding the thing would be stronger but seriously this thing is pretty dang rigid.
hell dude i think its pretty badass. many things could be better because of the awning..... some shade on a hot day or if you have a little kid and keep them out of the rain while you buckle them in or take them out. pretty unique man

I have weekend baseball tournaments and some days the games are like a few hours apart and instead of goin home I can now just camp out at the jeep till the next game which is going to be nice. Also I'm gona get into camping soon so the awning will be nice at the camp site.
Just great! Now someone is going to add a BB and call their awning taller......

Nice !.... and you just gave me another idea. Lowe's sells cheap roll-up awnings for patios in different colors, lengths and widths. I have one on my Condo's patio. Easy to install.....just mount two L-brackets on the roof basket with wing nuts for easy removal. Toss in a couple of removable PVC legs and you're good to go.
