My Jeep build (Infamous F150 coils)

Hey guys

I have had my jeep for about a year now. For the first 6 months it stayed "stock" as far as all oem parts go. Around that point I ended up changing the water pump, the power steering pump, iac valve, fluids, etc...

Now I can finally get to the fun stuff with all of the maintenance out of the way!

So, my room mate used to have an xj, which the previous owner gave him a set of F150 front springs for. He sold the xj and passed the coils down to me. I ordered a full set of IRO shocks, and fat bobs track bar brackets. Eventually I'll get longer control arms and adjustable track bars.

Anyways, here is the build!

This is the jeep the day I got it, for a little comparison

Took it to Chadwick the day after I got it for a little shakedown haha

A very few of you may recognize the jeep from when I ripped out the rotting rear carpet and replaced it with wood.

Painted the cladding, and grille with bed liner. Also plastidipped the wheels black

Some stock "flex" in Chadwick on a separate trip

Rancho steering stabilizer, Fat Bobs track bar brackets, IRO shocks, F150 springs

Also got a set of D-Windows, tires to come soon

Working in the cold, but it wasn't too bad. You can see my D30 cover that I painted orange when I changed the diff fluid last time.

You can see that the F150 coil is actually shorter, but because of the spring rate it lifts the Jeep. The ride is actually better, I guess because of the valving of the shocks compared to my completely blown shocks. Go figure

Once the front was done. Took about an hour and a half. No spring compressors used:highfive:

Rear junk. It was a little more difficult because the springs that used to be in front now are in back. They were longer and took a little bit more to get in even with the help of spring compressors.

And here she is finished, and still on stock wheels/tires!

Your gonna feel every ripple in the road with those Ford coils. Start looking for a set of used 3" front coils.

It actually rides pretty good. Like I said above my shocks were blown so right now it's actually better. In the future ill be getting new springs but this works pretty good for now.

Put the Rancho steering stabilizer on today.
Nothing to do with jeeps but helped my room mate put coil overs on his e36 M3, and a rear main seal and clutch on his ls1 camaro.

Next step : Replace that one rogue tire. :shhh:

Seriously though, nice rig. I've been planning on painting my diff covers for awhile but I always seem to remember after I change the fluid and bolt it back on.

Haha that's next on the list! Lost a tire out in Chadwick, MO. Running the spare for now. I have a set of D-Windows ready for some 32's as soon as I have the cash.

And thank you man!

It'll just get covered in mud and scratches anyways haha.

Friend with a mustang gave me set of the orange top fuel injectors because of the 4 hold better atomization. Installed them. Had a terribly rough idle. Then read the thread and realized they were the wrong ones. Oops!

Probably going to find some of the neon injectors at the junk yard here soon.

Found these at the junk yard when I went with a friend but didn't have any tools. I'll be going back soon because as my suspension has been settling the front got lower and it's kind of disappointing. Doesn't even look lifted

That looks sorta like control arms too, you should just grab all that you can if it's got a lift.

PolkaPower 11-19-2013 09:57 AM

Stock uppers but certainly not stock lowers. Fixed aftermarket. Some extended endlinks, maybe OME shocks can't tell if they are white or yellow. Grab it!

I'm planning on it! The rear had adjustable lower control arms too. I'm going to try to get everything aftermarket off of it.

I can at least clean it up and sell some of it if I'm not able to use it

Do you have adj track bars yet?

I was dumb and got track bar brackets. When I go to grab the arms, sway links, and springs I'm going to check it for adjustable track bars too.

I was checking the jy for a niner grill and found that gold mine.
