Sad thing is its not that far stretched
This is why sanwhiching the rails is so important and people are so poignant about doing recovery points properly.
keep in mind that it took mythbusters 8000lbs to tear apart two phone books with the pages lapped.
It doesn't take much to get stuck enough for a 12k lb winch to stop turning so like I said..those numbers aren't that stretched and it doesn't take much the bend that Rad support he's welded to as many of us can attest to.
Edit: and on that note
My recovery points are temporary until we build my bumper. I will tie in via 1/4" wall 2x 4 where it will be sandwhiched on both sides of the framerails and essentially double the capacity of the system I'm running now.

Dude, this is one of the most civil discussions on ghetto fab ever...you may need to tone down the sensitivity a touch.

Well I'm finished. Say what you want but I think I have done a pretty badass job.
I will show you the proof that it works later as I haven't editted the video yet. Even thou I think I shouldn't just for the fact most of you have been very ugly to me in this thread. I just think most of you wish you had thought of it first. Lol

i think it looks like it will hold up niceley. did you just recently sandwich the plates with the unibody. if so, it should be way stronger....

Honestly I resent that it being ghetto. This is as strong or more than anything you can buy online. The biggest problem with this thread is that no one has any idea any true fabrication.
Not only have I been told by people that have seen it in person that it is extremely durable but have been impressed with the concept.
If you are going to Wheelin For Hope this weekend. Come see me and look for yourself. Then tell me to my face that its crap not just over the internet.
Haters will be haters, I can't stop them but I sure can shut them up.

No its always been sandwiched. I just didn't have pictures of it until I put everything back together and painted. Also I used grade 8 bolts and nuts. Used 1/4 steel for the aides and inner plates.

The hitch wasn't made to be mounted on a zj period, let alone on the front. Therefore, it is ghetto by default.

I can recycle a coke bottle into a silencer but that doesn't make it the right way to do it

Looks OK, I'd probably be terrified to hook up to it.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I really hope that you don't injure yourself or others with those recovery points.
