My First Jeep

I have a 1995 Grand Cherokee 4.0 ZJ.
I know NOTHING. and I want to know EVERYTHING. I want a lift. but I don't know what that means getting.

I'm hard for cash because i'm young. So i'd like somewhat cheap. but not if it's crap.

So please guys help me out!
Any mods I need or you guys could suggest would be great!

x2 IRO. Good stuff and not through-the-nose 'spensive. I got my 3.5" kit for a little over $600, that includes new springs, upgraded shocks and shock boots with shipping figured in. Rode better on and off road, great manners and looked SICK! Line it up for your birthday or Christmas and some tires, you're good to go! I went for used tires because new ones go for like $900... I think I got lucky on the tires though. Anyway, look for deals on CL and on here. Kolak is your friend! kolak@aol.com Just tell him what you need and he will get you a screamin' deal! In hindsight, I probably could've gotten my lift for significantly cheaper through him as opposed to straight from IRO, but of course, hindsight is 20/20.

Good luck! If you need more advice, feel free to PM me or any of the mods, more experienced members than I, etc. PolkaPower knows a lot, Ratmonkey knows a TON and the list goes on. As said before, search the forum for what you need. This is an interactive forum, so the more info you can give us on a problem, the more we can help you.

Cheers!
-Evan

depends on tire size. 31's are easy to fit( that is what I started with). just kit the IRO 3.5 kit they have. I made the mistake of buying a lot of parts that i couldn't use as my tires got bigger. Try to do it all at once, will cost more at first but safe money in long run. you can run 33's pretty safely, anything bigger then that requires gears and axle swaps and chromolys

Yeah I like the size of 33's they aren't to big but still Beefy.
But what size lift do you think would fit with it?
Sorry for so many questions.

if you wheel hard 33's are starting to push the limits of stock axles. I ran the 4.5 inch kit and purchased adjustable short arms for the front and rear as well as adjustable rear track bar. I wheeled the jeep hard like that, then went to long arms. I also have the v-8 so power was not an issue.

Well i'm not ready for going CRAZY. I will have to get something like that.
But my wife said that I may have to cut out my tire well to prevent my tire from rubbing.
she's more of a gear head then I.

if you run the 4.5 inch kit and 33's you will not rub, at least i didnt. you really wont rub until 35's then be prepared to get the sawzall and bfh.

tune up, exhaust system, throttle body, intake. my buddy bough the rusty offroad kit. worked really well for his 4.0 liter. If you want to see how my jeep progressed check out my pictures. I started with 31's then 33's now 35's
