My experience with Rocky Mountain Suspension

This is a helper thread for any other newbies out there looking to lift their jeep.

I first ordered some black diamond at's for 2-3 inches of lift on my zj 4 weeks ago from rockymountainsusp.com. all seemed to go well, except that my credit card was $4 too much and i got declined. So I called the company, and dealt with a very charming woman Robin. First note I would like to make, is that the customer service at rocky mountain suspension (not RRO) was very friendly.

Going on, Robin was able to turn my order into a quote, so that I wouldn't have to reorder. Once I got the credit situation fixed, I had her set it back to an order. Two weeks later, still waiting on my shocks, even though a pair of green shock boots did arrive at my door about 4 days after I placed my order. So anyhow I check back to let them know my shocks haven't come in. She checks with the distributor that they deal with and gets the story "we are waiting on another cylinder for the last shock here". So I figure, ok no big deal, busy season, plus I got plenty of time, I won't be able to install this until finals are over. I call back a week later (this monday) and tell her to hassle the company to see why my shocks haven't shipped yet. She gets another story about "they're almost ready" and she searched all over for me looking for another distributor or a better shock. Well guys had sworn by black diamonds on this forum, so I wanted Black Diamonds. Anyhow, she told me to call back today and have her hassle the company again, so I did. They give her the same crap story, so she does some research for me and contacts Black Diamond, well apparently the company that made the cylinders for these shocks went out of business and Black Diamond will no longer support that shock. So these distributors were pulling on my hair for 4 weeks, lying to the lady about when my shocks are going to get finished, I don't know how anyone can conduct business that way.

Anywho, she's hooking me up with overnight shipping on a set of skyjacker hydros, for $27 a piece on sale, and i'm getting $45 back on my credit card . So that was pretty cool.

After all of this, I'm not angry at anyone because even if the shocks showed up at my door the day after I ordered them I wouldn't have had time to put them on, but I would like to say that the distributor Rocky mountain suspension was dealing with is pretty scummy. I believe RMS themselves are just a middle man where you can order the shock and they have someone else ship you the parts. So I'm not disappointed with them, plus they had excellent customer service.

I hope these skyjackers work out for me

edit, one more thing. If you're going to order from these guys, I would suggest knowing what you're talking about. At least in terms of prices and the exact length of the shock you need(collapsed and extended) just in case something goes haywire. If I hadn't checked on the skyjacker prices at the time, I'm not sure if I would've gotten the $45 back. In all seriousness though, I should get that money back for having to wait 4 weeks for some liar manufacturers to sort out their act.

I was thinking that when I was at work the other day. I'm sure they don't lose that much, because I can imagine there will always be an influx of noobs come spring time to support RRO without knowing what they're getting into. So I would imagine that wouldn't take away from RMS
