Muffler problem -- somewhat urgent

Hey guys,

My muffler broke off right behind the cat as I was driving today. It's hanging about 7 inches below the cat after i took my jerry-rigged support. my main concern is that the weight of the muffler seems to be resting on the rear track bar, and that it will cause long term damage. Is this a valid concern? my neighbor has a saws all and I can cut the pipe close to the muffler, but I don't know if I need to. the battery has about 20 or minutes before it's ready.

gonna rattle and get on your nerves before it causes any damage, But fix it exhaust replacement is a cheap enough fix

I fully plan on fixing it next week. So there wont be any damage caused by the weight and cutting is unnecessary?

personally Id just remove it its easy enough prob dont even need to cut just remove it from the hanger by the tail pipe (2-13mm bolts if you wanna remove the hanger too) then Jack the body up and fish over the rear axle

I think that's where i've been running into to trouble. the tail pipe seems like it's corroded onto the hanger and it's stuck. I also don't really have any way to get the jeep lifted up to get more room to work

The whole hanger comes off but you can remove it from that rubber bit with a pick i believe its called
Its a PITA though

I ended up cutting it. the muffler was blown out and nearly rusted through. Now I have to decide between a straight pipe and a muffler. And man, that rumble is kinda nice

You're gonna need to find a dealer probably

A good muffler is exspensive just so you know, also a thrush welded is good too
