I put a new motor mount (driver's side) in the ZJ a couple days ago, and afterwards I noticed a very loud clicking/thumping noise when I made hard left turns. I thought maybe it was a bad CV joint, but I got on the creeper today and I saw this!

My brand new motor mount is already coming apart. Could this rubber disc be making all the noise? Did Midas **** up the install?

You sure that is even the right mount, does not look like it fits, did they do all of them or just one?

They only did that one. It looks exactly like the mount that was there originally.

I think they screwed up. Take it back there and have them look at it.

Either way take it back since a MM shouldn't die quite that quickly.

That's an Anchor brand motor mount. They are crappy. I don't use them anymore after repeated bad experiences. (rapid wear, too much vibration transmitted, bad alignment)
But yes, take it back.

Crap. I have a feeling Midas is going to say it's not their problem since they didn't supply the mount (I bought it from RockAuto...). This state inspection thing is killing me.

Unfortunately, it usually isn't a good idea to bring your own parts to a pro to have them installed.
In this case, you don't know if the mechanic used a little too much persuasion to get the mount in and knocked off that "ring", or if the part was truly defective.
I think, in the end, you'll probably wind up making a deal with Midas to have them install a new mount that they supply.
Another reason to get some tools (for those who don't already have them) and start doing this stuff yourself. That way, if something goes wrong, you know exactly who to blame.
Sorry for you troubles.
Contrary to what someone else posted, I've used Anchor mounts for years, with good luck. Most of these parts are made in the same factory, anyway.

Ever since I experienced multiple troubles with Anchor mounts, I now get them exclusively from Mopar. Most aftermarket sources either stock Anchor mounts, or they must be supplied by the same Mfr, because the part numbers are usually the same.
Or you can go the urethane route.

I don't think urethane mounts are available for the ZJ.
Wyckoff Chrysler sells them on line for about $40 each, for those who want to go OEM.

Scroll down to the "Click here to look up parts using our on-line parts catalog!" link.
I'm sure that Nick, a sponsoring vendor, could give you a great price on OEM Mopar: kolak@aol.com

Yeah, Midas wanted $120/ea just for the parts, so I went home and ordered them online. I did the passenger side, the only reason I didn't do this one was because I didn't have a short enough wrench, and after doing the passenger side I really didn't feel like messing with it.

Aside from that disc flapping around and making that annoying noise, is the mount being like that really hurting anything? I've been driving around with both of the mounts in pretty sad shape for the last 3 years, the only reason I changed them was to pass inspection here in VA.

I don't remember having that "disc" there when I did my '94 several years ago, yet they all seem to have them now. If the disc flapping around is what's making the noise, and the rubber itself is OK, maybe Midas will tack weld it in place for you.

Y did they install that big round shipping disk with it??
I used these mount when I did mine, cheap yes, but did the job just fine. No ill effects.
But I also removed that big chunk of rubber disk.
