What is the most important mod to do First to a stock 4.0 grand limited for offroading? Is there any general order?

Well, to me and proabably everyone else, one of the most important "first" mods is anything that has to do with saving gas mileage. Rustys offroad www.rustysoffroad.com has an air tube (like an FIPK) for really cheap, When i got mine i could tell a noticable difference in throttle response and gas mileage! Exhaust like (flowmaster, borla, flow-tech) is always good too for that performance sound and gasmileage. Take care of your fuel system. Run fuel injector cleaner in atleast once a month, or every other week. Keeping fuel lines clean, pumps, filters is very critical and can lead to decreased gas mileage if people dont take care of it. Also run STP fuel treatment throught the tank once to displace any water, or microbacterial growths that are in the All of these can lead to fouled plugs and all will result in loss of power and mileage!

Um, he means modding for offroad use. Gas mileage doesn't factor in that.

The *very* first thing you need to do is get tow points. No one will argue about that. And the first tow point that you need will be a class III hitch for the back. You don't even need to wire it yet if you don't have the funds, just put one on. The hitch pin can be used as a strapping point.

After that, it's all subjective. Front hooks/hitch, better tires, skids, hi-lift jack...I could go on. By the way, don't EVER use a towstrap with attached hooks. They tend to become missiles.

Rusty's 4.5" lift

At the rustys website, it says the 4.5" lift is for xjs. Is it still compatible with the ZJ?

The Grand Cherokee lift says its 3" But everyone that has gotten it has been getting 4.5" of lift out of it. Its bigger than what it says! lol its not a small lift, its not a big lift! its a noticable hight difference!

XJs have coils front, leafs rear, ZJs have coils front and rear

xj coils are compatable with ZJs, unless you have a V8, then they are 1" taller than xj coils....

the CAs and trackar are the same in the front......

I think the most important "mod" is hiding the spare key so the wife can't drive the ride without you knowing about it

i'd say safety first. but a Locker improves your off road ability. so i would go with that.

For offroading, the most important mod is your underside, you will wanna get skids and rockers first, take it from someone who knows, i wish i would have got them before i got bumpers and everything, because i messed up my rockers and it coseted me a pretty penny.
