more power
well, after driving around on a 190 horses im ready for more. torque is actually what i would prefer gaining considering an increase in torque wont hurt gas mileage as much and it's easier on an engine than horsepower. anyway, im thinking about getting a new exuast pipe, and a chip of some sort, possibly a new intake too, so the extra power doesnt heat my engine to death. just wondering what you guys would recommend for some power boosts. guess it would be helpfull to mention that i have a 95 gcl with the standard I6.

Biggest cost effective power boost on a 4.0 will come from stroking it. Things like exhaust, intake, etc will give some, but not a lot. Others will have input on chips.

if you dont know what it is then it will be over your head. Not tring to be offensive. But its when you put a crank in there that allows your pistons to travel longer distances. It allows the stroke to be greated. Being a stroker. You usually add bigger pistons along with this combo.

Best bang for your bucks would be a cam with supporting mods, hands down. You can get a mild cam from Comp Cams for under $150. A port and polish on your head, WJ intake manifold, bored throttle body, header, high flow cat, and a new muffler should net you 50+ HP.

I've done the basic bolt on mods on my 04 4.0. 2.5 Cat and Back exhaust, FIPK, and 63mm TB. Overwhelming increase...no...noticeable....yes. Also, although they may be pricey, installing gears will get you the bottom end power you are looking for, at a sacrifice of mileage (unless you are lifted as gears would put you back near stock final gear ratio.

Gears,
swap from those 3.55s to 4.10s or 4.56s and just move out. Hunter

I think you missed Andy's post. To get more hp, you need more air, more fuel and a way to expel it. Just one simple part like a distributor or new plugs will not work. If you haven't changed your plugs and wires, distributor in the life of your Grand, you will feel a better response but not the 10 to 20 HP you're looking for.
