mods from junkyard

thinking about doing some stuff, and some new parts and some used.

trans cooler - new - what size to get? 7.5"x15" good for normal stuff and some towing??

electric fan - used, found one on a zj.... did they come available from the dealer on some years?? if not what year taurus should i look for

intake manifold - used - 99+ swap - is it worth it, and how much trouble?

also gonna prob get a new exhaust from the cat back, because i got a new cat on the recall from DC. should i go a 1/4" bigger or 1/2"??

1996 ZJ 4.0L - traded
1972 CJ5 304 - sold

I plan on swapping the intake manifold over the summer, its slightly labor intensive, but it's supposed to provide some good gains.

If you found an electric fan, it was probably a 98 5-niner.

Cooler that size should be fine. Pretty sure that's what mine is.

I wouldn't buy a used cooler. They aren't that expensive, just buy a new one.

You're probably right Charlie - I noticed he put New next to that in his list, so figured it'd be safe.

Anyone else have comments on this?
I'm thinking of throwing on an exhaust manifold and a 99+ intake at the same time on the 96 ZJ.

That would be a good plan, I have an aftermarket header, but if I had to do it again I would have done both at the same time. It is really straighforward, just takes some time to do (~4-5 hrs, maybe less if you've done it before)

i have personally did my intake manifold...and it was pretty much straight forward....mine took awhile because i also had my buddy weld my exhaust manifold and that was the b*tch part of it. if you do the intake swap grab the injectors too, and youll have to get the wires for them, i suppose you could just use yours if you dont want to switch the harness. i just decided to switch them over to the new style. another thing is the vacuum lines you'll have to run them different, so make sure you get the lines also. and get a throttle body gasket cause im sure you will need break it like how i did.

so you will need:
tb gasket
vacuum lines
the intake

injectors off that intake
the wire harness off the injector(if you decide to change them over)

and thats about it any question i could probably answer for you

oh and yes it does seem to add noticeable power gain.

well i guess its not really a harness more or less the wire connectors, they are 2 wires then the connector and you will have cut your injector wires off and splice the new one in, its not very hard. being that i dont know how to solder i just used the butt splicing.
