Mechanical Fan Blade

I posted the other week asking about doing a mechanical fan swap on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ 4.0L. I am not having any luck finding a fan blade that will fit and clear the engine pulleys. 93-98 JGC fan blades hit. I have tried ordering it using factory Jeep part numbers but no one has one becuase it is discontinued. And all the aftermarket parts stores don't even list a mechanical fan even though it was a towing package option. Anyone know where I can get one or an aftermarket part number? I would really like a 7 blade fan.

7 blade - #55037650AA
5 blade - #52079984AA

I have tried several mopar sites but I will give them a shot too. Always comes back saying part discontinued. Maybe this one will be different. Thanks.

It took a few days for them to process my order but it looks like they had it and it's headed my way. Thanks.

5 blade or 7? I think you can get a clutch from Autozone.

I grabbed a clutch from the zone last week for about $55. I ordered the 7 blade that was referenced in the mech fan swap post. Hopefully it fits. I should know Monday when it comes in.

I don't know, but a dakota fan may be a possibility also. I'd check for that. I went to the dealership the other day asking for certain parts and it looks like the ZJ parts are becoming obsolete. It's as bad as my '66 Dodge pickup!

Yeah a lot of dakota stuff is the same. Seems like the problem on my 01' JGC is the water pump. It just sits to close to the engine to use any fan that has any kind of blade offset towards the engine. I got a new 93-98 JGC seven blade fan that wouldn't fit if anyone ever needs one.

The fan blades are discontinued??? I thought they were just on backorder (like a lot of Chrysler parts).

Use the non-symmetrical 5 bladed fan. It moves more air than the 7 bladed unit.

No, I have had both, the 7-blade definitely moves more air.

Got a mopar 7 blade fan in yesterday. Still doesn't fit. I am starting to think that it has an aftermarket water pump or something with a shorter shaft because it still doesn't fit. It's closer and threads on but still doesn't clear the power steering pump pulley before it gets tight. I am heading to the jeep salvage yard to see what I can find today. Would be so much easier if it used an old style mount so I could use any fan and a spacer to get it away from the engine.

Are you using a fan clutch or are you going direct-drive?
If it's direct, what you need is a fan spacer to locate the fan forward so the blades will clear things. All older cars and trucks with direct-drive fans used spacers of one length or another to clear things, while fan-clutch models basically had the spacer function built into the body of the clutch.
Fan spacers are pretty universal, though; they're often made of an aluminum extrusion and then are cut to length, so they can be found (just not everywhere) in virtually any length.
(in a former life, I was the guy who tested new fan packages for noise quality at a major auto company, and I did more fan changes than I care to think about...)
