Massive Body Rust
I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2L. I picked it up because it was a steal of a deal, and I fell in love with Jeeps. The Jeep runs great, but unfortunately it is from Iowa and the body is quickly corroding away. Below both the driver and passenger side doors I have rust like cancer that just keeps getting bigger. I know it is nearly impossible to stop, and fixing it would mean massive body work. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to slow it and cover it up? It is a shame because the Jeep is really good looking until you see below the doors. Eye sore.

a grinder, a welder, and steel

I assumed that is about my only choice. I have a feeling I will manage to screw that up.

Boatsides! Really no way to stop it other than cutting it out. May as well make it functional for the trail.

As i dont know how your Jeep looks and im not a expert on this matter i cannot give much advice.. Maybe post a few pictures so we can give some better advice ?
I have seen some pretty bad rust on a Jeep, rusted through the bottom sidepanel on the limited (where you step into the vehicle) and it was on the frame it looked like and it was cracked. What i personally would have done to that was sand it down first, and maybe use a grinder to get the touch stuff off. Then take some Rustolium paint that stops rust, and spray it all over the metal.

If you wanna stop it clean off the dirt and loose stuff and coat with POR15. That will keep it from getting worse while you find yourself some donor panels or pieces of sheet metal to fix it permanently.
