Ls1 Zj?

Has anyone seen an LS1 put into a GC? How about an LS1/T56 combo?

I know Novak does a lot with putting the LS1 into wranglers, but I couldn't find anything about going into a GC. Just throwing the idea around. I want to eventually swap an LS1 into a Jeep, just trying to decide which one

As a ZJ owner who also drives an LS1 Camaro, I can tell you right now, that would be way too much power for a Grand Cherokee. The LS1 engine has decent low end grunt since it's a 5.7L V8, but it's really revver, really wakes up above 3500 rpm... a better swap would be a Chevy LT1 350 used in the 93-98 fbody cars. They still make 275 hp at the rear wheels but they are torque monsters and make the majority of the power BELOW 3500 rpm. The LT1 motors are also cheaper to find for your transplant project and just as reliable once you get past the optispark issues.

the 5.9 that came in the limited is a pretty beefy iron block IIRC, and puts out 245/345. The LS1 is around 350/350, and does it in a much lighter aluminum block.

Just figured it would one great power / weight ratio

I've heard a couple horror stories of guys putting healthy 350's in unibodys and twisting the body a little too much...Now i mean it cant be much harder on the body than flexing, but I've heard of a cherokee that didnt have fun for very long.

Did the ZJ ever come with a 5-speed from the factory? Would make for a much easier conversion if the clutch pedal was a bolt in.

I would be intersted in doing a swap like that....or just buy and engine that puts out over 400 ponies. There are too many options of stiffening the unibody and installing a 4 link while you are at it.
Shudog....my Supra would have eaten your camaro. I say this not to upset you...but am jealous that I no longer own it....it was a high 9 second ride. Did I ever say I miss it...ok.

I wonder how much power that TVR engine makes.

they make around 360-400hp depending on year and model so that one is probably a 360hp. you could drop that in, say its a 4.0 I6 to anyone that asks and you wouldn't be a liar.

brb, quad cam zj

Wanna know what a 600 HP, 800 HP, and a 1000 HP Supra have in common?

An 11 sec. ET*

Unless of course said Supra has a 200 shot of nitrous to help spool before the 1/8th mile mark
