hi all, i 've been cruising craigs list and have seen a few 2&4wd grand cherokees with the 4.7 engine and under 100 k miles going for under $5000!.
is there some major design fault that drives the price down? is there some powertrain issue? or electrical problems that are common to these models, making them less desireable? thanks
it could depend very highly on how the truck was taken care of and if it was beat up a lot or not....
but since i'm new to Jeep i'm interested in others input as well on how these hold up over time.......
i recently got my 95 4.0L with 75K miles on it, it was listed at $5,995
though high gas prices are now gone i think everyone expects for them to come back soon, as do i. anything that doesnt get atleast 30mpg gets pooped on.
thanks for the replies!, some of my concern was the realibialty of the 4.7 vs the 4.0 or 5.2, like does the 4.7 go 200k without major problems?, and i know the trannys arent as good as the aw4. this series of jeep does seem to be a upgrade from the xj's.
I had a 4.7 in a durango that had over 250000 miles on it. it ran perfectly no oil use at all. its still driving around the city, I see it quite often. I think the 4.7 is a great engine to replace the 5.2, can get pretty good highway milage and has nice power and sound.
my friend has the loredo ZJ, don't remember exactly which year it is but probably 94 or 95 and he's jeep has almost 200,000 miles on it... i don't remember him complaining about it all too much and says only good things about it....
The prices are low right now. I just bought my '04 Laredo 4.0L with 47,000 miles for 6500 from a private owner. It's in great shape and a nice feeling being back in a Jeep again too.
