Found a silver Orvis in the Pick and Pull yard here in Portland today, pretty hashed inside, only rear door panels and seat were ok

I came across one of those excursion models today. The interior panels were real wood, pretty cool.

I believe it was a conversion, not a jeep production. Two things stand out; the grill doesnt follow the radius of the front end, and the cladding was laredo cladding with a panel bOlted over the "LAREDO" thats molded in




The wood paneling was niice

Damn i shouldve got the vin an requested a build sheet

The Excursion was definitely a conversion performed by an aftermarket company. It would be like going to a GMC dealer and buying a conversion van. They still sell them as new vehicles but neither the factory or the dealer modified it to be that way.

Not too terribly rare, but zj Laredo 4.0 with 373s for gears is uncommon. Proud owner right here!

This blue is pretty rare from what I hear.

I have factory 5 speed parts, a storage box,and manual windows to go in it to. Thought it was kinda oddly option to as it is a 4.0 with a 249, cloth, infinity gold and 3.73 gears (factory tow package minus the hitch though)

What years were available without factory tinted glass? It seems like maybe only 93 & 94? I always thought they looked a little cool

Yep OEM tow with the 6 cyl was 3.73 gears. my buddy had an odd optioned 1994 Laredo.....black paint, over head console, tan leather seats with the BishopBarton pattern, digital info center, power heated mirrors, no fogs, no hooks, no skids, and........a 231 factory with the 6 cyl and 3.73's factory tow. came with the trans cooler as part of the package as well.

That light blue is a rare colour, my other buddy had one in college, but not as rare as the midnight blue 1993 limited's with the 4.0L, AW4, and 242. I would love to have one in that configuration. Midnight blue was a 1 year only colour.

Here's my contribution:

the 1993 SE base model I picked up off another buddy over Labor Day weekend in Texas. His dad bought this thing new in early 1993, gave it to my buddy when he turned 16, he modded it, wheeled it, parked it and went to college. It sat for about 10 years in Texas at his parent's house until I finally talked him out of it several years later. It was DOA, I'm rebuilding it. Nothing too special....Feb 1993 built SE, 4.0L, 42RE, 231, power windows, power locks, AC, light grey Quartz interior, clear glass, has the remote gas door, has keyless oddly enough, cruise, non up country, non tow, no power heated mirrors, no OHC, no VIC, no fogs, no alarm, no reflectors in the doors just block plates, no grab handles just block plates in the roof, no map pockets in the doors, no skid strips in the cargo area, no tie downs in the cargo area, no frills bare bones truck. I love it. Nothing much to go wrong. I am going to 5 speed this thing and I'm making a 5.9 clone out of it.



My ultra rare 1993 V8 Laredo, this thing had to have been special ordered. power everything, including power antenna. The only things it did not have compared to a 1993 Limited was the over head console, fogs, & leather. Mine had a sun roof though. Crimson bishop barton cloth interior, power seats, power windows, power locks, power heated mirrors, keyless, factory alarm, auto headlights, auto dimming mirror, map pockets in the doors, courtesy lights in the doors, remote gas door, 5.2L, tow package, skid strips in the cargo area carpet, tie downs in the cargo area, factory bronze tint, full console, digital info center, 249, ABS, AC, non up country model. I mean this thing was loaded. Build date was 9/2/92 probably one of the last Crimson interiored ZJ's to roll off the JNAP line since the crimson interior was discontinued half way through the 1993 model year.

I bought this thing in late 1999 with 125,000 miles, sold it in early 2007 with 280,000 miles on it. I beat the snot out of that early 318, and I never had it apart except for the intake gaskets, pan gasket RMS FMS oil pump. rotating assy, distributor, heads, timing cover, timing, and head gaskets were OEM. everything else had been replaced once but at high mileage. I was waiting for it to die so I could 5.9L swap it, I already had a built 46RH in it. It saw Canada, Mexico, MN forests, Lake Superior, AZ deserts, California rocks, California beaches, the Pacific ocean, spring break on the colorado river, camping trips, road trips, I drove it across the country from MN to CA on 6" of lift (when gas was $1.25/gallon), reliable as HELL. only left me stranded 3x in those years. Everything worked on it too. I do miss that ZJ from time to time. My buddy bought it, drove it to 320,000 on the OEM motor, he sold it and word has it that it's still up north from me somewhere.
