Loose Spring?

G'day, after breaking my front drivers spring about 6 mths ago, I had them replaced them with OME's (and shocks). Every once and while I'd get a 'rebounding spring-like' clunking noise come from the drivers side while going over an assortment of big/small/medium undulations in the road. It has started to do it alot now, & I confirmed it was in fact the spring tonight, by having the old man rocking the front up & down while I was holding the spring. Sure enough a 'springy' clunk on each upwards & downwards compression vibrating into my hand.

Can these things come loose / unseated? Easy to fix? I doubt the spring is broken, but do I have a case to ask for a warranty on the mechanics work (assuming nothing is physically broken)?

Thanks

Is the coil correctly seated now where it is supposed to be?

there should be a coil spring retainer clip that keeps the coil properly seated in the coil bucket. My guess is whoever put the new coils in forgot about or lost the retainer clip. Look on the other side and see if the coil is held in its bucket with a little clip.

The bolt in the picture should be holding down a little clip that keeps the coil in place when no weight is on it.

Yeah, it looks like it is seated correctly. Can the upper / lower isolators come loose?

Thanks inavacuum, will look for the retaining clip when I get home from work.

Cheers

I don't know about the WJ but ZJs only have an isolator up top. I'm pretty sure even when the coil isn't pressing on it that it stays put. That could be just because its had so much pressure on it since it was put there though.

Check and make sure you don't have any play in the upper or lower trackbar mount transferring to the coils just to make sure.
