take pics as you build it. should be pretty sweet! and yes definitely sounds doable. you've already got some of the expensive stuff already!

big issue with the second one i'd ask is what did he tow with it? towings hard on the ZJ trannies.

your plan for that first one is pretty good too. both are feasible.

OR..... go find a niner

I got a 77 F250 with a 400 in it. If that isn't up to the task of towing then ill find something that will. I agree it would too much weight for a ZJ to tow.

Never tow past a gas station I bet! I have a 79' F-250 with a built 400 and get about 6mpg not towing anything.
But I love my truck.

So an update I bought this 1993 ZJ with the I6 auto and 242 for 1000$ Runs and shifts awesome had it up too 95mph on the freeway. The PO said he swap the crank and rods from a 258 into it to make it a 4.5L Stroker. Cant verify that but it does have more power then my YJ. Both front side windows are busted out and the interior is wet and moldy. But I went to pick an pull picked up leather seats and door pannles out of a 95 limited that are in excellent condition. Picked up two new side windows and motors all for $150
