locking a WJ D44A

Nope, WJs have a dana 44a. The only locker made was by aussie. They have discontinued it so you will have to find a used one.

The first generation dodge vipers and certain C4 model corvettes used a 44a differential, so I wonder if you could find lockers for those rear ends if they would work in the WJ diff. Probably not, but may not hurt to do some research.

I found a '02 model D44a, with varilock for 500 bucks. would this be a good option? says it has 45,000 miles on it.

The problem with varilok is that the clutch packs wear out, especially if you are running larger than stock tires.

Yeah, I think that's the same problem I'm having with the t-case, doesn't want to engage the front axle. I am thinking of doing the 242 swap. I have the 247 now. my wife was coming home today and told me she kept spinning in the mud, but just the right rear.
