Locker

Well im new to the locker market and i was maybe trying to get one for my front dana 30. I wasnt sure what brand and spline? to get. I dont want a ton of noise and im assuming that i will still be hearing noise even when 4wd isnt locked in. If anyone also could tell me a little about the whole spline thing that would be awesome. I can imagine what it is but not specifically. Thanks

first off i would put a locker in the rear before i put one in the front. it just serves more purpose to have one in the rear first. also if you are ordering a locker you can look at the number stamped on your pumpkin. that will tell the seller what axle you have and the ratio you have

Can't put one in the back of the WJ if you have the D44a. No one makes one that I know of.

I put a detroit trutrac limited slip up front in the dana 30. Works like a champ.

I bought it from www.drivetraindirect.com

just in response to demtjcj, a locker in the front does 50% more work than a locker in the rear. Alot of comp rigs are allowed to have only one locker and its always a front locker. Instead of pushing the entire weight of the vehicle from the rear tires spinning it is mechanically easier for the locked front to pull the vehicle over objects.

well most people on here have DD, so therefore it for on road results a rear would be better to have.

I guess i dont know that much about jeep drivetrain. Does the front shaft move and the axle but its just not engaged?(auto hub?) Thats the way my friends trooper is so he had to install manual hubs(AISIN). I hope one day to get mine taller than his....i hope. He has a 97 trooper w/ a 3.5" lift running 33s and the flex on that i havent seen hardly anywhere except really hardcore offroaders. But anyways how much front end chatter will i be hearing if i did the front if at all?

The limited slip doesn't chatter at all. I've forgotten that its even there.
