LK's ZJ Rust Repair Thread

Started getting together parts for rust repair on the wife's 98 GC last week. The over all paint is decent so I'm gonna keep all the work to the bottom half of this Jeep. So far:

- This GC only came with cladding for the doors and and upper portion of fender. Nothing on the rockers or lower front fender. Rocker and lower fender cladding (4 pieces) from salvage yard = $125

- Ordered new sheet metal off of E-bay. 2 fenders @ $65 each, 2 rocker patch panels @ $37/pair. (shipping included in prices)

Will be cutting up the new fenders and only using what I need, using the cladding to keep finishing time to a minimum. The old "what she can't see she ain't gonna worry about thing" so the cladding will hide most if not all imperfections. Gonna try to get it all done in one day, very likely to stretch into 2. Paint for the sheet metal and cladding will either be Duplicolor rattle can (black to match existing), Duplicolor bumper coat or bedliner. Might even go Rustoleum under the cladding. Haven't decided.

Fenders arrived yesterday, still waiting on the rockers(different seller from the fenders). I haven't heard boo from this seller since purchasing last week and no indication of shipping of anything. Never had a problem on Ebay, hope this isn't the first time.

Once I start I'll post pics as we go along........

Update: Fenders have been here a couple weeks but the rockers got back ordered. UPS has them set for delivery today so I'm hopping to do the repair this weekend.

Closer to getting the camera out...............
