It Lives!!!

That's right.
The ZJ rolls again.

Transmission shifts flawlessly and it goes right into gear. No more wating for drive to kick in and then feathering the gas to get it going.

Damn I'm good.

Maybe it's meant to have that RK Lift wheeled.

Too bad it breaks something every time out.

You said it brother.

It still needs (an by needs I mean needs IMEDIATELY)...
Heim Joints.
Remove the RK suspension mount / diffcover to reseal it.
Alighnment.
Regear the front axel.
Front drive shaft shortened and rebuilt.

And tons and tons of tiny little things.

And the stereo just crapped out on me today.

Well I guess the 180K mark has begun to kick the transmission in the butt. I had slippage before but it had stopped for about 20K. Now its doing it again, I added a quart of atf-4 and so far I have not had it slip again but I only drove it for 15mins babying it. I looked into the rebuild kit you used and thats short money. Trouble is that the zj is the daily driver at this point. What do you think it would take as far as a time frame to rebuild the transmission once its out of the jeep? A day? Any tips for anyone doing this, do you need a slide hammer?

One question - Is your kitchen big enough for the additional work or will you move into living room. Just kidding.

It was in rougher shape than perfect. I ended up passing on the idea because it needed more work than it was worth. If I was to make it a trailrider I wouldve dealt with it but I already have one and I would want the 5.9 pristene. My eyes are still open. I saw a 5.9 broadsided with a soccer mom driving it to the movies the other day. I was running up to ask her how much for the jeep but she drove off before I got over there . I could blame the slippage on the cold weather but its not only when the jeep starts up but pretty much 1/2 the time on the 2-3 shift. I took it for a drive earlier and it was still doing it just not as much. The fluid level is fine and not burnt. Just a old tired tranny.
