Not trying to beat a dead horse here but this is my update:
Have now found a battery drain. It will drop the battery voltage to about 9 volts overnight. Batter checks good. Disconnected the battery overnight and the charge held. I connected a meter in the battery line and removed all the fuses and checked the switch off draw. Fuses 5, 6, and 8 are the only ones that are pulling any power. 5 is the interior lights and stops drawing with the door switch pushed in. 6 is the security module and 8 is the overhead console,VIC, and HEVAC. My guess is the security module but time will tell.
I have changed the spark plugs, distributor cap, and rotor button. Also the fuel filter. I still have the issue of missing at higher RPMs until the engine runs for a while. It doesn't seem to be tied to the temp as it comes up to temp and still misses. It eventually runs smooth as silk through the full RPM range but it takes about 30 minutes of running. Any ideas?
thanks

I had a similar problem and it turned out the mercury switch in my underhood light was bad and the light was staying on all the time.

I'd change the coil out for that misfire.

You tried just holding the set button, not both together like mentioned above.

I did change the coil but still the same issue. I have found an exhaust leak where the exhaust pipe flange connects to the manifold. I don't have any codes active but is it possible that the leak is screwing up the signal from the O2 sensor? Also, the Cat is rattling. I have ordered a new one and will change it anyway. The leak is not as bad after I drive it for 30 minutes or so and the engine also runs with no miss then. Related? Wishful thinking?

Well, got the VIC working. Turns out the select button was stuck in the pressed position. Replaced the entire switch with an old reset button from a PC. Took some creative modifications but it is working great. Now, just need to get it running good. I did a compression test today too, 125-135 psi on all cylinders. FSM says it should be 120-150 so I guess I'm ok.

Finally found the source of my miss thanks to another thread with similar symptoms. The crank sensor was bad. Runs like a top now. Thanks to all who helped.

It was an after market sensor. Was that a mistake?
