List of Commonly Used Acronyms

This list of commonly used acronyms is linked to the FAQ.
Please add what you can. I would like to make it as complete as possible.

2WD - two wheel drive
4FT - four wheel drive full time
4LO - four wheel drive low
4PT - four wheel drive part time
4WD - four wheel drive
AAL - add a leaf
ACC - accessory
ACM - airbag control module
ABS - antilock braking system
AECM - airbag electronic control module
ARB - Anthony Ronald Brown
ASDM - airbag system diagnostic module
ATF - automatic transmission fluid
AVG ECO - average fuel economy
BB - budget boost
BCM - body control module
CAB - controller antilock brake
CAL - calibration
CCD - Chrysler collision detection (vehicle communications bus)
CMTC - compass/mini-trip computer (module)
CPS - crankshaft position sensor
CV - constant velocity [joint]
DAB - driver airbag
DC - Daimler Chrysler
DDM - driver door module
DLC - data link connector (same as EDC)
DRB - Digital Readout Box
DRL - daylight running lights
DS - death shake (same as DW)
DTE - distance to empty
DW - death wobble (same as DS)
ECO - intantaneous fuel economy
ECU - engine control unit (same as ECM)
ECM - engine control module (same as ECU)
EDC - engine diagnostic connector (same as DLC)
EFI - electronic fuel injection
EGR - exhaust gas recirculation
ET - elapsed time
FIPK - fuel injection performance kit
HVAC - heater, ventilation, air condition
IAC - idle air control [valve]
IFS - independant front suspension
IOD - ignition off-draw
JTEC - Jeep truck engine controller (PCM)
LA - long arm
LCA - lower control arm (same as LSA)
LD - left door
LR - left rear
LSA - lower suspension arm (same as LCA)
LSD - limited slip differential
MAP - manifold absolute pressure
MET - metric
MIC - mechanical instrument cluster
MSTM - memory seat module
MTR - motor
MUX - multiplexed
NP - new process (same as NV)
NV - new venture (same as NP)
ODO - odometer
OME - Old Man Emu
PAB - passenger airbag
PCM - powertrain control module
PDC - power distribution center
PDM - passenger door module
PTC - positive temperature coefficient
RA - Road Armor
RD - right door
RE - Rubicon Express
RKE - remote keyless entry
RR - right rear
SYE - slip yoke eliminator
TB - throttle body
TBS - throttle body spacer
TC - transfer case
TCM - transmission control module
TPS - throttle position sensor
TSB - technical service bulletin
UCA - upper control arm (same as USA)
USA - upper suspension arm (same as UCA)
US/M - U.S. to metric [button]
VC - viscous coupler
VF - vacuum flourescent display
VIC - vehicle information center
VIN - vehicle identification number
VSS - vehicle speed sensor
VTSS - vehicle theft security system
WOT - wide open throttle

Spring over axle. It's mostly for the YJ guys who's leafs normally mount below the axle. By relocating the mounts to the top side, a YJ can achieve a near 5" lift with few other parts.

always thought of the camshaft position sensor as CPS (Also have seen CMP). isnt the crankshaft something like CKS?

Airborne, XJ's and KJ's are still considered SWB's.

XJ's require an SYE when lifting just as much as a YJ or TJ do.

KJ's don't run SYE's much because most don't lift higher than 1-2" thanks to IFS.
