Is this limited slip test 100% accurate?

I have been reading online that you can test for the limited slip by jacking up the back of the Jeep and spinning a tire. If the opposite tire to the tire you are spinning spins in the same direction as the tire you are spinning, then you have a limited slip. If the opposite tire spins in the opposite direction then you don't. Is this test 100% accurate?

I requested a build sheet from Jeep and still haven't gotten it yet. I did check the metal tag on the rear axle for "LS" next to the gear ratio as suggested in the forum and didn't see it. I will assume based on this as spinning the wheels there will be enough information to proceed with adding the Supertech synthetic blend 75W-90 gear lubricant I purchased.

If it spins the same direction, then you have LS (assuming it isn't a locker in the back).

However, just because it spins opposite doesn't mean you don't have LS. Some LS systems require spinning before the LS activates so they'll appear open until they spin enough.

Just jack up one side of the Jeep, if you can spin the one tire freely then you probably have open diff's. If you do have a limited slip and can spin just one tire the limited slip is probably worn out.

If you don't have time to do it right the first time, how do you have time to do it over.

Jack it up and do it like Arlo said.
