Limited slip additive?

Getting ready to change the diff fluid (quadra-drive, vari-loc axles) going with mobil 1 75w-140, but I'm not sure what to do about the LS additive. Do I need to get some from Jeep, or can I just pick up whatever. I found some at my local autoparts store from "posi-trac" 8oz for 12 dollars though.

The stealership told me today to use the mopar fluid as it has the right amount of friction modifier and that other brands / makes use different compounds...

The dealership sold me the friction modifier in the 4oz bottle. My diff tag says to use 2oz friction modifier on it, so I would assume that you could split the bottle between the axles. Although when I bought it, the tech said they usually put the whole 4oz in per axle, which is what I did. I have also heard that the mopar 75W-40 already had it mixed in, but I can't say that for sure, you may want to ask about that.

I read on jeep forums that the rear takes 4oz and the front takes 2.5 or something. So basically get it from the dealer huh?

Only place I've bought it from, I really haven't checked anywhere else though. Sucks though, I had to walk a good ways to get it because my Jeep won't go anywhere near that place, I think it must have know I was going there and it shut off and refused to pull in the parking lot

I bought mine from the dealer. I think its cheaper for two bottles of Mopar that for one bottle of the stuff you found.

I used a different weight of gear lube though. Almost twice the price of the 75w. Added a whole bottle to the rear, and a half to the front.

I think that the price difference isn't big enough to save on it- buy Mopar one and you are 100% sure everything will be fine. Why risk for few $?

The tranny shop I was at recently said they would only use the Mopar type.
