Lifts
Hello, Im really lost as to what a good conservative lift or susp. lift is. I just want to get it a little higher off the ground for the big sandy stuff....would a susp lift get the job done? If so what kind, how much and what size bfg at tires on it?

Kevin, you can only do a suspension lift on a Grand. Take a look around the "lifted picture thread" at the top of the page in the stickies. Many times the specs are listed in the signature of the poster.
Also search around for OME (old man emu) or BB (which stands for budget boost) and Rubicon Express. Nick aka Kolak (kolak@kolakperformace.com) is a great place to buy your parts. So is www.kevinsoffroad.com HTH

If you've got a WJ (IE 99 or newer) You won't be fitting 32 BFG muds with just a 2'' lift. That is unless, you won't miss any of your fenders.

you need a good set of tools, sockets, wrenches, a good floor jack, and jack stands, impact guns are fantastic, a case of PB spray, depending on the lift, besides long arms, its all bolt off bolt on, rent spring compresser tools from auto-zone or simular store. decide on what you want lift you want to do and we will be happy to help more.. check the FAQ for what size tires and such you need for how tall of a lift to help you decide
before you start just lay under you jeep for like 3 hours studying how everything attaches if you plan to wheel you will need to learn where every bolt is on your jeep, so when it breaks, you know what to do (i know its a jeep and we are teens so we are invincible but they do break) you know what to do

I installed my 2" BB and more recently, took them off to install IRO 3" coils - did it all myself Up until 2 years ago when I bought my GC, I had never worked on any vehicle in my life. Since then, I've learned to do all my own fluids, messed around with the coils, etc etc With the right tools, its not that bad. But that is the key - you need to have the right tools (I learned that the hard way). You can have a shop do it....but it will cost you and is not nearly as much fun as doing it yourself. |

No, look at the dates. They're all from about a year ago, except for the one guy bragging about putting a lift on at the age of 15.
He brought back the thread. I'm sure the OP has figured it out by now.
