one guy has a picture with 300K miles im not sure if its the v8 but i put 180K on my first one and sold it -- no problems -- the 318 engine is a really good one....if its taken care of you could have it around for years to come....

My 5.2 has 180K on it with no knocks, or other sketchy noises, or issues.

so it would be fine to buy a ZJ (1997 Limited) with 144k?? Everything else on the car is perfect.

By the way they are asking $4800 for the car.

4800 is a bit steep! I have a 97 with similar mileage and options....I'll be lucky to get 4 for it. Is it a dealer?

Talk em down. Price is very high.

I think that is what I am going to do. I hope that I can get them down a bit so I can have some money left over in my Jeep fund.

Cold starts are where most engine wear occurs.
4800 is steep, careful shoping might find a a 99 around here.

my 5.2 just hit 120k and feels new. No oil consumption, no leaks. No noises, and is surprisingly quiet at idle. The 5.2 is a solid motor, just make sure the one your looking at has been maintained etc.

I agree with everyone, the asking price is really high. I bought my '93 over the weekend, but prior to that I had been watching Craigslist, and my local paper for V8 ZJ's... I found that they seem to go for between $2000 - $2500 in the '93-'97 range depending on options and condition.

I picked up my '93 5.2, needing a windshield and a radiator for $1200 with 170K on the clock, and other than the issues mentioned above, running great.

Keep looking, you'll find a great deal!
