I'm looking for some ideas on building custom rockers. Mine are rusted out and need replacment. I have seen oem replacments for sale but for the same price I would much rather have something STRONG. I'm thinkin 2"X3" or 2"X4" tubing. If anyone can post some pics of what they have done it would help. Also what is the best way to mount those? I'm not a welder but I would think that welding to the body would just burn through due to the thin metal?
Looks good and very strong, nice work. But my rockers themselves are rotted out. I need to replace the rockers with something, has anyone replaced rockers with something solid?
This guy cut his rockers out and welded in tubing. The second post in the thread shows it, he used 2" x 4" x .188" tube and cut some in half lengthwise and welded to the 2" x 4" tube to make it 2" x 6".
Ill be doing this over the winter. I was recently in an accident that claimed my rocker panel. I'll be covering it up with Laredo plastic temporarily, but eventually I'll need to do cut-outs of some sort.
