Left Taillight Not lighting up! 99 (wj)

My dad told me the other day. When I got back from work my left brake light was not working. So I went outside and checked it out. When my lights are on the bulb lights up. But when I brake it doesn't get any brighter like the right one. Whats up with that? Should I replace the bulb or is it something in the wiring? Is it something I can do myself? If so what do I need! Thanks for any help.

I think this happens to 99% of WJ owners at least once in their lives.

the issue is the prongs in the bulb socket that contact the metal tabs in the housing get hot and bend causing a loss of connection. the prong must be bent back to make full contact with the tab.

x2 on the bending of the prongs. I had to do this 2 months after buying my WJ. There were some black marks around the prong that needed to be "readjusted" like it was periodically making contact and sparking or something so it was easy for me to figure out which one to attack first.

X3 here just pull the bulb out and you will see the metal tabs just take a small screwdriver and bend them up, not too much or they will break. Works fine after.
