man did that the other night saw it while I was closing windows upstairs.. got it in time but with the down pours it did get wet... if it was soaked you may need to lift the carpet and let it dry out underneath like the insulation retains the moisture despite the shop-vac..

good luck

Spray some mildew cleaner for carpets in there.

not only does the insulation retain moisture, there is actually an air gap between the carpet and the floorboard. After I sunk my WJ in the lake, I shop vac'd the carpet while it was in the jeep but wasn't satisfied so I pulled it. Even though the carpet felt dry, when I lifted it out there was still like an inch of standing water below it on the floorboards. Pull your seats, center console, and molding that holds the carpet in place and take it out. You'll be happy you went through the extra work. I also rented a steam cleaner thing from my local ace hardware and went to town. cost like $30 for a day.

You need to remove practically EVERYTHING to get the carpet out. It is a two piece design. One for the trunk area, and one for the seating area.

4 bolts per seat for the front seats, a total of like 6-8 bolts for the rear seats, then pull out the center console, the front side kick panels and the little step things right at the edge of the carpet near the doors, then with a little caressing it will come out.

advice like that is exactly why its so difficult to find a decent used car anymore.

but a nasty stench is likely a big deal breaker on a trade.

My GPS told me to drive over a river once, we found a bridge a few miles down the road! On the very same road tri it wanted us to driver over a lake, luckily there was a ferry there the GPS didn't know about. Stupid Microsoft Streets and Trips.

If you're too lazy to take the carpet out spend a month or 2 spraying it with anti bacterial fabreeze

spraying the TOP of that carpet will not do ANYTHING. Its UNDER the carpet where the moisture and mold will be.

TAKE IT OUT.
